I remember the last days of high school where everyone spent dreaming of life in uni/tafe/etc and loved the thought of skipping lectures without getting in to (too much) trouble. The days where we were all wondering what uni life was like, joining all the societies at open days, and thinking that life at uni would be great.
Three years into it..
It doesn't seem to be that great anymore - not for some of us anyway. I used to have a picture of the quadrangle [to the right] (that's what it's called right?) that I cut out and kept in my wallet (god knows why - 'cause I don't), and after starting uni, I could probably count exactly the number of times I've been anywhere near the quadrangle buildings - 0 times. Yup, all those days I argued with friends that Sydney University was better because we had cool looking buildings - not that great if I never go to any of it.

Which building do I go to? I live (literally) in the Wilkinson Building (Architecture) on City Road near Wentworth building (Darlington Campus) - basically I never go to the "main" campus (Camperdown Campus). The only I ever do cross to that side is when I step off my bus in the morning, or to go to the library (first time in 3 years and it wasn't even for myself) for my cousin to borrow a book she had reserved under my name. No I take that back, I did have a whole semester of one class in the student centre (what was that about again?).
Why have I been living in a hole my entire uni life? Pretty simple - I have every single class (lecture and tutorials/lab) in the Wilkinson building, I have access to unlimited internet access in my lab rooms (and we have a few of them). Our building is basically next to Wentworth ($5.50 or was it $4.50 fish and chips for the first year) so food was not worth walking all the way to Manning for, we even have our own Architecture Artos Cafe (why walk to Wentworth when the food there costs more now with VSU).
My uni life in a nutshell:
First year: Go to uni, sit in almost every lecture, have lunch at Wentworth every single day.
Second year: Go to uni, sit in half the lectures and skip most of the tutorials, have lunch sometimes at Wentworth, sometimes just go home due to 1 hour lecture days.
Third year: Go to uni, sometimes, sit in the vital lectures (or enough so we don't fail), skip every tutorial that is not necessary, have lunch at Lansdowne Hotel $5 lunches every single day - sometimes go YumCha/Broadway for shopping.
I ranted half a page of useless things that isn't even on topic! Basically that was me saying how "un-exciting" uni is. On top of that, work and other "social life" activities keep everyone very busy and almost no time to relax and have a day off as we all thought we would have before uni started, and that we kind of did have in first year. On top of that I just did a completely useless course that probably taught me one thing - don't do Design Computing.
Is your uni experience more exciting than mine?
